The Nokia Scholarship is intended to encourage efficient, fast-progressing doctoral studies and research. Nokia Scholarships are granted to individuals pursuing a doctoral degree in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) or in areas supporting the development of these branches of science. Scholarship can be granted for doctoral studies in a Finnish university or to a Finnish applicant for doctoral studies abroad. Optimal time for applying for the scholarship is when you have one or more accepted publications intended to be included in your dissertation. When applying for the Scholarship, you should have a good record of fast-paced, high-quality doctoral studies. The aim of the scholarship is to motivate the applicant to complete an excellent PhD project.
The Jorma Ollila Fund was created to support recently graduated doctors to further develop their research careers in the field of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) or in areas supporting the development of these branches of science. Target group for the Fund are postdoctoral researchers and younger scholars on the tenure track (assistant professor level) in Finnish universities. These personal grants are awarded for the purpose of gaining international experience and research excellence for a period of 0,5-3 years.
The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) awards MD fellowships of up to 18 months to outstanding medical students to pursue ambitious, experimental projects in basic biomedical research worldwide. Fellowship holders must study human medicine in Germany and change cities and institutions for at least ten consecutive months to work in an internationally renowned laboratory.
Grants for Nokia Visiting Professors are given to distinguished foreign professors to work in Finland, or to deserving Finnish professors working at respected foreign universities in the field of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). The minimum period for the visit is two months. Visitors coming to Finland must typically participate in research work and teaching.

PFs help researchers gain experience in other countries, disciplines and non-academic sectors.
