The Eon Essay Contest is an effective altruism-aligned nonprofit; we believe in using reason and evidence to do good. We are raising awareness about the importance of avoiding existential risks. Existential risks are risks that threaten humanity’s entire future. Examples include pandemics, nuclear warfare, and artificial intelligence. We must avoid these risks to ensure future generations will flourish.
The Evans Scholars Foundation is a charitable trust that provides full, four-year tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving caddies. The Foundation is overseen by the Western Golf Association, which also runs six prestigious golf tournaments, including the BMW Championship.
Through our annual Teachers Test Prep “Pass the Torch” Teacher Scholarships program, we award a total of $10,000 to aspiring K-12 educators: one $5,000 scholarship to a recipient planning a career in elementary education and one $5,000 scholarship to a recipient planning a career in secondary education.
