The students must reside in one of the following districts : Bagalkot, Ballari, Bidar, Gulbarga, Bijapur, Chitradurga,Kalaburgi, Koppal, Raichur, Shivamogga, Vijayapura, Yadgiri, Raichur, Belgavi, Koppal, Gadag, Dharwad, Uttara Kannad, Haveri or Davangere. The student’s parents must have a low income.

Under the Gautam Buddha Chair at the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), a scholarship programme has been introduced to support students from any community or religion who believe in the principles of Lord Gautam Buddha and have a family income of less than ₹2,50,000 per annum.
